[문화재청]국립문화재연구소, <전통재료 실험실> 전시 온라인 개막

  문화재청 국립문화재연구소(소장 지병목)는 포털 사이트 다음(Daum)에서 제공하는 카카오갤러리에 <전통재료 실험실>을 14일부터 공개한다.

  이번 전시는 국립문화재연구소에 설치된 복원재료 연구기록 보관소(아카이빙) ‘전통재료 실험실’에 생생히 담긴 연구 과정과 연구 성과를 국민에게 소개하기 위해 기획되었다. 특히 ‘시편 플레이트’는 연구개발(R&D) 성과물인 동시에 전시물로서 기존 갤러리와 문화 콘텐츠와 차별성을 갖는다. 또한, 재료의 형태를 형상화한 ‘전통재료’ 상징물(로고)을 함께 공개하여 문화재 연구를 대중에게 친숙하게 알리고자 하였다.

  전시 주제는 ▲ 자연을 담은 전통의 빛깔 ‘단청안료’, ▲ 옛 건축, 그 견고함의 비밀 ‘석회’, ▲ 천년을 이어온 우리종이 ‘한지’ 등 대표적인 연구 재료로 선정하였으며 총 53점의 작품을 2개로 나누어 구성하였다.

  제1부 ‘문화재 복원용 전통재료’에서는 세 가지 재료의 원료를 소개하고, 규명된 제조과정을 통해 만들어진 최적의 재료를 보여준다. 제2부 ‘전통재료 연구의 결정체, 전통재료 실험실’은 과학적 연구를 통해 재현된 제작 시편을 선보인다.

  문화재청 국립문화재연구소는 이번 온라인 전시를 통해 국민이 문화재 복원용 전통재료의 역사적 가치와 과학적 연구 필요성을 공감하는 계기가 만들어지길 기대한다. 또한, 오는 9월에는 전통재료 연구 성과를 공유하고 문화재 현장에 적용 방안을 논의하기 위해 전통재료 연구 관련 학술 심포지엄을 개최할 예정이다.

NRICH Launches Online Exhibition

- Introducing the Korean Traditional Materials: Dancheong pigments, Lime and Hanji

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (NRICH, Director General, Ji, Byong Mok) will hold an online exhibition titled ‘Traditional Materials Laboratory’ through the Daum Kakao Gallery (https://gallery.v.kakao.com/p/premium/tradition) on June 14th.

‘Traditional Materials Laboratory’ will play the role as the research archives introducing the overall research achievements. In particular, not only the ‘Research Specimen’ will be the exhibition contents, but it will also serve as material references which differentiate itself from the other existing displays. Also the official logo of the ‘Traditional Materials’ designed with various kinds of material references will be launched to better promote the traditional materials research field to the general public. The main themes of the exhibition are as follows: ▲ Dancheong pigments: the Colors of Tradition and Nature; ▲ Lime: Wonders of the Ancient Architecture; ▲ Hanji: A Thousand Year Old.

The exhibition consists total of 53 pieces introduced into two parts. Part 1 ‘Traditional Materials for Cultural Heritage Restoration’ will display three main materials and demonstrate the production process of the most suitable materials for the restoration of cultural heritage. Part 2 ‘The Grand Finale: Traditional Materials Laboratory’ will present the manufacturing process and the material references based on the scientific research.

The NRICH hopes that this online exhibition will provide the general public with a platform to experience the importance of the historical value and the research needs regarding traditional materials for restoration of cultural heritage. Upcoming September, we plan to host the Traditional Materials Research Academic Symposium to share our research achievements and to discuss the best practices from the field.
