[문화재청](국영문 동시 배포)덴마크로 초대받은 신라 왕궁‘월성(月城)’

? 문화재청 국립경주문화재연구소(소장 이종훈)는 경주시(시장 주낙영)와 지난 6월 28일부터 오는 9월 8일까지 덴마크 코펜하겐에 있는 니콜라이 쿤스탈(Nikolaj Kunsthal) 미술관에서 ‘KOREA IN DENMARK？welcome to the Moon Palace : 월성’ 전시회를 성황리에 진행하고 있다.


? 2019년은 한국과 덴마크가 수교 60주년을 맞이하는 해로서 두 나라는 이를 기념하여 올해를 ‘상호 문화의 해’로 지정했다. 이번 전시는 ‘상호 문화의 해’를 맞아 양국 간의 우호를 증진하고, 한국의 역사와 문화를 해외에 널리 알리고자 마련한 자리로 현재까지 많은 관람객이 방문하며 호평을 받고 있다.


? 전시는 전체 3부로 구성되며, 니콜라이 쿤스탈 미술관 1층과 2층에 각각 마련되었다. 1층에는 1부 ‘AD(기원후) 101로 떠나는 여행’과 2부 ‘토우, 레고와 함께 놀다!’, 2층에는 3부 ‘문라이트 오브 팔라스 앤 미스터리(Moonlight of Palace and Mystery)를 선보인다.




? 특히, 2부에는 월성에서 나온 토우(土偶)를 덴마크에서 탄생해 이젠 세계인들이 사랑하는 친숙한 장난감 ‘레고’와 조합한 작품 사진 11점으로 창작한 작품들이 등장하며, 3부 전시는 미술관 첨탑과 연결된 공간구조를 활용하여 자연광을 활용해 마치 달빛이 드리우는 느낌을 주어 ‘월성(月城)’이라는 공간의 느낌을 효과적으로 전달하고 있다.




? 한편, 현지시각으로 6월 28일 오후 1시에 열린 개막식은 기자간담회를 시작으로 저녁 8시까지 성황리에 개최되었다. 약 500명의 참석자들은 다과와 함께 자유롭고 경쾌한 분위기 속에서 작품 속에 표현된 한국의 문화와 역사를 즐겼다. 개막식 당일에는 경주 월성을 홍보하는 공간도 마련하여 현지 관람객의 이해를 도왔다. 작가와 관람객, 주최자와 시민들 사이에 오고간 이야기들은 두 나라의 문화를 자연스럽게 이해하는 매개가 되었다. 전시에서 선보였던 신라 토우(土偶: 흙으로 만든 인형)가 덴마크 사람들에게 친숙한 레고(LEGO)와 조화를 이뤄 ‘현재에서 과거’, ‘코펜하겐에서 경주로’라는 전시 표어를 구현해낸 모습이었다.




? 전시장을 방문한 현지 관계자들은 “새로움과 오래됨, 과거로 돌아가고 시간과 장소를 지나온다는 것이 굉장히 좋았다.”, “레고를 이용하여 한국 문화를 이해하기 쉬웠을 뿐 아니라, 전시 내용이 환상과 현실이 공존해 인상적이다.”라고 소감을 밝히기도 하였다.

? 전시는 9월 8일까지 열리며, 휴관일인 월요일을 제외한 평일(낮 12시~오후 6시)과 주말(오전 11시~오후 5시)에 관람할 수 있다. 덴마크 코펜하겐에서 만나는 신라 월성의 이야기는 유럽인들에게 한국의 고대 문화를 만나는 색다르고도 즐거운 추억이 될 것이다. 문화재청 국립경주문화재연구소는 이번 행사가 경주와 월성이 국내는 물론, 세계인들에게도 흥미로운 역사 공간으로 다가가는 기회가 되길 기대한다.




‘Wolseong (月城)’, Silla palace invited to Denmark

The Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (Director, Lee Jong-Hoon) of the Cultural Heritage Administration and Gyeongju City (Mayer Ju Nak-young) open an exhibition, ‘KOREA IN DENMARK ？ welcome to the Moon Palace: Wolseong’, successfully at the Nikolaj Kunsthal in Copenhagen, Denmark from June 28 to September 8 2019.
2019 is the year for a 60thanniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Denmark. Both two countries designated this year as ‘the Year of Cultural Exchange’. This exhibition in Denmark will promote friendship between two countries in celebration of ‘the Year of Cultural Exchange’ and also introduce Korean history and culture to overseas widely. A large number of visitors have visited the exhibition and it is well received by critics.
The whole exhibition consists of three sections, which are held on the first and second floors at the Nikolaj Kunsthal. On the first floor, there are two sections: section 1 ‘A journey to AD101’ and section 2 ‘Tou, play with Lego!’. On the second floor, there is section 3 ‘Moonlight of Place and Mystery’.
In particular, the section 2 features 11 photographs of Tou (clay figures) from Wolseong, which is now compounding with worldly beloved toy Lego from Denmark in that. Section 3 exhibition utilizes natural light and space structure connected to the spire of the art museum. The light and space effectively convey a feeling of ‘Wolseong’ as if the moonlight were shining.
Meanwhile, the opening ceremony, held from 1a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 28 local time, was held in great success. It started with a press conference. About 500 participants enjoyed Korean culture and history, expressed in art works, within joyful atmosphere with refreshments. On the opening day, there was a space to promote Wolseong Gyeongju, which could help local people’s understanding. All conversations between artists and visitors, hosts and citizen have become a medium to understand each other’s culture naturally. Moreover, exhibiting Silla Tou are well harmonized with LEGO, the most familiar Danish toy. This harmonization embodies catchwords of this exhibition, ‘from present to the past’ and ‘from Copenhagen to Gyeongju’.
Exhibition visitors said, “It is really good that there are new and old, going back to the past and going through the time and space” and “using Lego helps me to understand Korean culture easily and also the contents of the exhibition is impressive as it shows coexistence of the fantasy and reality”.
The exhibition will run until September 8 and will be open on weekdays (from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and weekend (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) except Monday, which is the closing day. This story of Wolseong in Copenhagen, Denmark will be a unique and joyful memory for European as they could meet Korean ancient culture through this exhibition. The Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage hopes this exhibition will provide an opportunity for Gyeongju and Wolseong to become an interesting historical space both in Korea and the World.
