Yu’s sister, Yu Xiaoqian, suffers from a throat condition that leaves her mute. Yu Laoqi, a devout believer in fox spirits, rejects Western medicine, hoping divine intervention will cure her. By chance, Xiaoqian meets Tang Shan, whose sincerity convinces her to undergo surgery.
Meanwhile, for financial gain, Yu Laoqi collaborates with foreign doctors, stealing and killing children for unethical medical experiments.
