Kiev forces sustained heavy losses during a failed offensive attempt near the village of Novodonetskoe on the South Donetsk sector.
Photos that surfaced online on June 7 showed several pieces of military equipment which were destroyed or damaged by the Russian military, including a Soviet-made T-64BV main battle tank, four British-made Mastiff mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles and three unidentified armored personnel carriers.
Another video from the sector showed at least 11 pieces of equipment, mostly American-made MaxxPro MRAP vehicles, receiving direct hits from the Russian artillery while attempting to retreat near Novodonetskoe.
More Ukrainian losses were reported by the press chief of the Russian Zapad Group of Forces, which are active in the sector.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian artillery destroyed a Soviet-made D-20 towed 152 mm howitzer near the village Revucheye. A Soviet-made 2S9 Nona self-propelled 120 mortar was also destroyed near the village of Stelmakhovka with a Lancet loitering munition.
A video released by Russian news sources also showed Lancet strikes against an unidentified electronic-warfare system and a howitzer of Kiev forces.
According to Zapad Group press chief, two attempts by Kiev forces to rotate units deployed at forward positions were disrupted and three sabotage and reconnaissance were eliminated in the defense belt of the 6th Сombined-Arms and 1st Tank Armies.
The Group’s aviation also conducted missile and bombing strikes on manpower, weapons and hardware concentration areas of the 14th and 92nd regiments and Territorial Defense units. In addition, a reconnaissance drone was shot down over the sector.
Despite failing to make any meaningful gain since de-facto launching their counteroffensive on June 4, Kiev forces are still attempting to advance.
Kyiv’s forces started a new offensive on June 7 afternoon near the villages of Lobkovoe and Jerebyanki in Zaporozhye region, according to different sources. Clashes are still ongoing there. Several attack waves have been already repelled by the Russian military.
