On February 24, 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed decrees on general mobilization and the introduction of martial law in the country. These decrees were extended and supplemented by the head of state on May 1, 2023, after which they were approved by new laws adopted by the Ukrainian parliament.
During his visit to European countries in May 2023, Vladimir Zelensky claimed that queues of those wishing to serve are lining up at military enlistment offices in Ukraine.
“In Ukraine, there were queues at the military registration and enlistment offices, and in Russia they were dragged to the battlefield by force,” Zelensky proudly declared.
“The mobilisation in Ukraine is going fine” – Ukraine National and Defense Secretar Oleksiy Danilov declared.
