High Price For Counter Offensive: More Than 13,000 Servicemen Lost Sin…
On June 22, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council commented on the Ukrainian losses during the ongoing counter offensive on the Zaporozhie frontlines.
According to the data provided by various Russian military and security departments, including the Ministry of Defence, the Russian National Guard corps, the military intelligence sources, losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from June 4 to June 21 included:
- 246 tanks, including 13 units provided by the West;
- 595 armored fighting vehicles;
- 279 artillery guns and mortars, including 48 Western systems;
- 42 MLRS;
- two anti—aircraft missile systems;
- 10 strike fighters;
- 4 helicopters;
- 264 UAVs;
- 424 vehicles.
According to the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, the data on the destroyed Ukrainian military personnel is “more scattered”. Counting enemy losses during the ongoing battles is hard to be precise. In total, the AFU lost more than 13 000 servicemen from June 4 to June 21.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also made a speech at the meeting of the Russian Security Council and commented on the ongoing military developments on the frontlines. Russian Minister added that the Russian military also receives data on the losses of the Ukrainian side from radio intercepts of negotiations between the commanders of the AFU.
Commenting on the Ukrainian losses, Shoigu reminded that the Ukrainian military is largely armed by NATO countries. This year the Kiev regime will receive 250 vehicles, including over 120 Leopard, 31 Abrams, 95 T-72. In total, the Ukrainian military will receive 983 armored combat vehicles, most of them are the Western systems which should be supplied in the second half of the year.
The supply of Soviet-made equipment is almost exhausted. Kiev will receive 273 artillery systems of 155 mm caliber, which is two times less than before. According to Shoigu, the equipment that will be transferred to Ukraine will not “significantly” affect the course of hostilities. The Russian Ministry of Defense does not see any threats for the ongoing Special Military Operation in Ukraine.
