Ukraine Lost More Than 20 Thousand Servicemen In July – Russian MOD
On July 31, the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation held monthly conference headed by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu. The Defence Minister held a speech, assessing the intermediate results of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, in July the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost 20,824 people and 2,227 units of various weapons, including 10 Leopard tanks, 11 American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, 40 American M777 artillery systems and 50 self-propelled artillery units from the UK, USA, Germany, France and Poland.
Sergey Shoigu concluded that the Russian military had built a strong defense, and Ukraine, which is already throwing reserve forces into the attack, cannot achieve any success.
“The command of the Armed forces of Ukraine is desperately throwing new forces to storm our positions. Thanks to a well-constructed defense, skillful organization of the fire system, professional actions, endurance and perseverance of Russian servicemen, the enemy’s advance is not allowed” he claimed.
The minister reminded of the Ukrainian attack in the Orekhov direction in the Zaporozhye region which was repelled by Russian forces. On July 26-27, more than 400 Ukrainian servicemen, 31 tanks (including three German Leopards and two French ones), and 32 armored fighting vehicles were destroyed in the area of Rabotino located to the south of Orekhov. In total, the AFU lost 63 armored vehicles.
“The units of the 810th Marine Brigade and the 71st Motorized Rifle Regiment showed fortitude and dedication. Therefore, I would like to thank all our guys once again” – Shoigu said.
Amid the ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensive, Russian forces are launching counterattacks and advance on different directions. Shoigu listed the settlements taken by Russian forces in July:
- the Russian Ministry of Defense declared control of Sergeevka and Kovalevka in the Krasny Liman region on July 25.
- On July 19, the Molchanovka railway station in the Kupyansk direction came under the Russian control.
“The 15th Motorized Rifle Brigade and the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment acted actively, acted maneuverably. And as a result, we have achieved success. The 238th Artillery Brigade, the 31st Engineer-Sapper Regiment, and the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiments are also acting bravely” – Shoigu added.
Shoigu concluded that the Western weapons supplied to Kiev do not lead to success on the battlefield, but only prolong the military conflict.
Amid the failure of Ukrainian “counteroffensive”, the Kiev regime supported by its Western patrons “focused on carrying out terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure in cities and towns of the Russian Federation.” In response the Russian military increased the intensity of attacks on Ukrainian military facilities, including those used for these terrorist attacks.
