Russian MoD Details Ukrainian Losses In Counteroffensive (Videos)
Ukraine has lost over 43,000 troops and about 5,000 pieces of military equipment since the start of its counteroffensive, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on August 4.
In his daily briefing, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov provided a detailed summary of Ukraine’s recent human and material losses.
“The Ukrainian army’s losses in combat operations already exceeded 43,000 personnel in June-July since the Kiev regime launched its so-called offensive,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman noted that these figures do not include those wounded and foreign mercenaries evacuated to Ukrainian military hospitals and abroad, and also the personnel eliminated as a result of high-precision strikes by Russian long-range weapons.
The Russian military has destroyed about 5,000 pieces of military equipment of Kiev forces since the start of the counteroffensive, Lt. Gen. Konashenkov added.
“Over 4,900 items of the Ukrainian army’s various armament, including 26 aircraft, nine helicopters, 1,831 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, among them 25 German-made Leopard tanks, seven French AMX wheeled tanks and 21 American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles have been destroyed at the frontline,” the spokesman said.
Ukraine also lost 747 field artillery guns and mortars, including 76 American-made M777 towed howitzers, and also 84 motorized artillery guns from Poland, the United States, France and Germany, the general reported.
During his briefing, Lt. Gen. Konashenkov also provided details on recent advance attempts by Kiev forces in several directions.
In Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled eight attacks close to Belogorovka, Spornoye, Vesyoloye, Staromikhaylovka, Paraskoviyevka and Pervomaiskoe. After repelling the attack, the group carried out a counterattack and managed to capture more advantageous positions near Belogorovka and Vodyanoye.
The group also launched strikes against gatherings of Ukraine’s 24th, 28th, 110th mechanized brigades as well as 5th assault and 81st aeromobile brigades near Toretsk, Klescheevka, Adveevka, Krasnoye and Belogorovka.
Kiev forces lost 185 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks, four motor vehicles, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer and a D-20 towed howitzer in this direction, according to the spokesman.
Meanwhile in the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces continued offensive actions near Staromayorskoye and improved its tactical situation. The group also targeted gatherings of Ukraine’s 31st mechanized and 35th marines brigades close to Rovnopol and Makarovka.
In addition, the group disrupted the operations of a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group in the outskirts of Priyutnoye.
The spokesman said that Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 120 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, a Msta-B towed howitzer and a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer.
In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian forces repelled yet another Ukrainian attack close to Rabotino. Gatherings of the 33rd, 47th, 65th and 118th mechanized brigades of Kiev forces were also hit close to Malaya Tokmachka, Yablonevoye and Uspenovka.
Kiev forces lost in this direction some 130 troops, three infantry fighting vehicles, including an American-made Bradley, two armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles and a D-20 towed howitzer, Lt. Gen. Konashenkov said.
The spokesman detailed the situation in other directions as follows:
In the Kupyansk direction, assault detachments of the Zapad Group of Forces continued offensive actions on a wide front and have taken more advantageous positions close to Olshana, Petropavlovka and Tokarevka (Kharkov region).
In the course of active defense, 4 attacks by units of 14th mechanized and 25th airborne brigades of the AFU have been successfully repelled near Novosyolovskoye (Lugansk People’s Republic).
In addition, AFU manpower and hardware concentration areas of 9 brigades have been hit near Orlyanskoye, Kotlyarovka, Ivanovka, Pletenyovka and Berestovoye (Kharkov region).
The enemy losses were up to 45 Ukrainian servicemen, 2 armored fighting vehicles, 3 motor vehicles, 1 U.S.-manufactured M777 artillery system, as well as U.S.-manufactured M109 Paladin and Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery systems.
In the Krasny Liman direction, as a result of active actions by units of the Tsentr Group of Forces, Army Aviation and artillery, 2 enemy attacks have been successfully repelled near Novovodyanoye and Kremennaya (Lugansk People’s Republic).
In addition, units of 21st, 43rd, 54th, 63rd, 67th mechanized and 95th airborne assault brigades of the AFU have been hit close to Karmazinovka, Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People’s Republic), Torskoye and Krasny Liman (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The enemy losses were up to 70 Ukrainian servicemen, 2 armored fighting vehicles, 2 motor vehicles, 1 U.S.-manufactured M777 artillery system, as well as D-20 and D-30 howitzers.
In Kherson direction, the enemy losses were up to 25 Ukrainian servicemen, 2 motor vehicles, and 2 D-30 howitzers.
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized 116 artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and military hardware in 142 areas.
In addition, fuel and ammunition depots of Ukrainian troops have been destroyed near Krasnoye (Donetsk People’s Republic) and Peschanoye (Kharkov region).
2 command posts of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been hit close to Belogorovka and Belaya Gora (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Air defense facilities have shot down 15 projectiles launched by HIMARS MLRS.
In addition, 28 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been destroyed close to Svatovo, Lisichansk (Lugansk People’s Republic), Donetsk, Soledar and Volnovakha (Donetsk People’s Republic).
In total, 458 airplanes, 245 helicopters, 5,496 unmanned aerial vehicles, 428 air defense missile systems, 11,113 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,142 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,746 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,057 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing recent strikes with precision-guided bombs, artillery and anti-tank guided missiles against equipment and gatherings of Kiev forces in different directions.
Kiev forces have sustained heavy human and material losses since the start of the counteroffensive more than eight weeks ago. Despite this, they failed to make any meaningful gains in any direction.
