NATO military equipment is on fire again in Latvia. On June 18, a Scania truck with a trailer carrying an all-terrain vehicle Bandvagn 206 did not reach its destination and caught fire near the capital Riga. This is the second incident in the area that led to the destruction of NATO military equipment over the past week.

According to the press attache of the Commander of the National Armed Forces, the official reason of today’s incident was a traffic accident. The local fire services found that the tractor with the trailer overturned, and the tracked vehicles caught fire. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. 21 firefighters, five tankers, a water carrier and a rescue vehicle were deployed at the site. The total area of the fire was reportedly 25 square meters.

Another similar incident took place on June 13, when a NATO military fuel tanker that was carrying fuel from Finland to Lithuania caught fire in Salaspils, not far from Riga. Eyewitnesses reported two explosions in the area. LINK The police launched a criminal case and put two possible attackers on the wanted list. So there was no question of chance and the explosions were the result of an attack.

Despite attempts by local authorities to explain the damage to military equipment by ordinary road accidents, rumors about some pro-Russian sabotage groups operating in the country are growing. Moreover, some reports recall the Edge Autonomy plant which produced UAVs for the Ukrainian military but burned down near Riga in February.
