ADEX 2023: Huneed, Nordic Wing co-operate on Astero/Troy UAV

South Korean firm Huneed Technologies has entered a partnership with Danish firm Nordic Wing to collaborate on promoting the latter's Astero unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the Indo-Pacific.

Under the partnership agreement – signed on 19 October on the third day of the International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2023 held in Seoul – Huneed Technologies will lead regional campaigns for the UAV and will look to integrate components into the platform. In the Indo-Pacific the UAV will be known as Troy.

Speaking to Janes, Jonas Münster, Nordic Wing's chief sales officer, said the Astero/Troy UAV is suitable for both civil and defence applications. The Astero UAV is operated by European countries and NATO forces, and has also been deployed by Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

The UAV has a low radar cross-section and is equipped with Nighthawk 2, a dual electro-optic/infrared stabilised camera, which has a terminal resolution of 1,280×720 and 40x zoom capability.

Münster said the UAV is equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) anti-spoofing software and active anti-jamming hardware, which makes it a potent aerial platform for deployment in contested environments.

According to Nordic Wing, the UAV has a maximum flight endurance of 3 h 30 min, a maximum take-off weight of 4.5 kg, and is powered by a 850 W electric brushless direct current (BLDC) motor. The UAV features a wingspan of 2.33 m, measures 1.18 m in length, and has a maximum range of 150 km.

The company said the UAV can be operated in wind conditions of up to 12 m/s.
