Russian pilots have recently shared a new video of combat operations of their helicopters in Ukraine. The Russian Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter demonstrated the wonders of survivability during its combat mission.
Having lost the tail boom of their helicopter, the crew managed to continue the flight and come back to the airfield.
Preliminary reports claimed that the Ka-52 was hit by Ukrainian air defence forces. However judging by the footage, the tail was likely damaged during the failed dropping of external fuel tank. Ukrainian forces have not managed to intercept a single Russian aircraft during their counter offensive on the southern front lines so far.
According to experts, the coaxial configuration of the propellers of the Kamov helicopters and their balanced aerodynamic system provided them with such an extreme survivability.
